“We are left totally stunned, jolted by the magnetic energy that heats up the stage and theatre. […] We realize that these are magical moments, which won’t be repeated anytime soon.” (La Presse).
Complex rhythms, heartbreaking songs, solemn and powerful gestures: flamenco casts a unique spell. Dating back to XVIth Century, this great tradition is still very much alive, still connected to the present. Contributing to its vitality and constant renewal, dancer Myrian Allard and singer Hedi (El Moro) Graja founded La Otra Orilla in Montreal in 2006. After years of refining their art under Andalusian skies, the duo have mastered the subtleties and nuances of the art. Passionate and rigorous, the artistic directors of La Otra Orilla are here making their first appearance at Danse Danse, performing a work which centers on the notion of time, which they describe as both “a promise and death, offered simultaneously.”
